Arezzo provides an interesting day of shopping, art and antique searches and great little restaurants and cafe's.
The church of San Francesco, made famous in the film "The English Patient", has recently restored the frescoes of Piero della Francesca and are definatley worth a trip on their own. You may make reservations to visit the frescoes "Cycles of the Legend of the True Cross" at the church of San Francesco by calling telephone 39 0575/900404.
These are only shown with a guide and reservations are necessary.
Arezzo also hosts a wonderful antique market the first week end of each month where you can find anything from ancient Roman pieces in carved stone, wrought iron, Italian furniture and all sorts of things from Morrocco, Tibet, and Africa.
We recommend a restaurant that is just to the left side of the Church of San Franceso and is called Buca di San Francesco, Telephone 0575 23271.
